MEXICO CITY ? The Mexican navy has recovered the body of the last of 10 oil workers who abandoned a disabled rig during Tropical Storm Nate and spent three days in the Gulf of Mexico before rescuers located their raft.
A navy statement says the family has identified the man as Aaron Houweling of Australia. His body was found Wednesday 55 miles off the coastal city of Lerma.
Survivors say nine of the 10 workers held onto the tiny raft amid the storm, but Houweling lost his grip within the first hours.
Four Mexican oil workers, two Americans and a Bangladeshi were rescued alive Sunday after floating for three days. Two other Americans were found dead. The Bangladeshi man later died in the hospital.
The navy statement was released Thursday.
