The festivities will get under way on Sunday, Jan. 27, with a Chinese Cultural Arts Celebration from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Artists from Jiangsu Province, China, will demonstrate beautiful traditional crafts such as paper lanterns shaped like lotuses, kites in the form of soaring birds, sugar sculpture, intricate paper cutting, Chinese knotting, and embroidered silk art. The celebration continues on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 16 and 17, when The Huntington will present its annual Chinese New Year Festival. This year?s event will include lion dancers (at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. both days), crowd-pleasing performances of bian lian (mask changing), plus martial arts demonstrations, folk music, tea tastings, children?s book readings, and more.
